Peru: Coca farmers in Ucayali lift strike and road blockadesPeru's Prime Minister Javier Velásquez Quesquén announced that the coca farmers from Aguaytía, located in Ucayali region, have lifted their strike, after a meeting with leaders, mayors and Ucayali regional authorities.

He added that all the participants agreed on the fact that “the common enemy is the drug traffic,” and that no one will allow it in the region: he also said that the Executive Branch will find ways to promote alternative development in the area.

The Prime Minister said that the government has invested some 14 million soles in the improvement of roads and other infrastructure in Aguaytía, which will benefit local residents.

He also stressed that the eradication processes will continue only for illegal crops, and not for the legal ones.
