Thanks for mentioning Magaly Solier, had it not been for your post comment, I would not have checked her out. Beautiful...I love it...she composes her own genre of music in Quechua - our native tongue.
Living in Peru, if you are to include Claudio Pizarro, you should also include Johan Fano (el cholo) who was elected best player in the Mexican league...(Unless the German league is considered "better" than the Mexican league...which I guess is kinda true...nonetheless, Johan Fano is the typical Peruvian coming from a small town...
Both Magaly Solier and Johan Fano represent the typical Peruvian...who formed thier talent in Peru, and who resonate internationally...

A fine list indeed. It is stimulating to see so many intelligent, talented and brave women, but if your aim was to acknowlegde the "stars" of the year, you should have included Claudia Llosa, the first ever Peruvian who got an Oscar nomination for our country. And speaking about Peruvian cinema, 2010 was a year full of "firsts". Here's some examples: First Sundance Festival Award ("Contracorriente", audience award in the international category); first Cannes Film Festival Prize ("Octubre", prix du jury in the Un Certain Recard section, which recognizes works by young filmmakers, or as pundits say, not so famous to enter the Palme D'Or competition). Anyways, I think one of the top stars of the year was PERUVIAN CINEMA.
And speaking about world champions (I deeply admire Kina), how about our surf team? Their team spirit was awesome. They should teach us all how the National Anthem has to be sung. Thanks guys!
