Keeping with the atmosphere of Asia Boulevard, on weekends Aquavit Hotel feels more like a pool party hosting hotel stays than vice versa.

Aquavit, which has been operating for three years now, is the only hotel on the nightlife strip at kilometer 97.5 south of Lima.

The 37 rooms are simple and modern, but can be difficult to get during the summer months. "There's a waiting list on weekends because of the people coming to the Boulevard," says Carolina Salgado, who coordinates events at Aquavit.

Visitors don't need reservations for the poolside lounging and partying, however. The pool and bar opens for the general public at 1 p.m. and stays open through 2:30 a.m. (at that hour, the party typically trickles out to the Boulevard clubs). On a recent visit one Saturday afternoon, a DJ had music at full volume, and groups in open-air cabañas (consumption minimum: 1,000 soles for 8-10 people), beds (free) and the pool were already well into the fun.

Aquavit on weekends is serious about keeping a party atmosphere, so much so that children are not allowed. On the weekdays and during off-seasons, things are more peaceful, Carolina Salgado says, and the hotel converts into more of a getaway for city dwellers.

Simple rooms for non Peru-residents go for $128 on weekends, up to $231 for suites. On weekdays they drop almost half that price.
